About PhantomBuster
PhantomBuster is a fast-growing SaaS company (+$13M ARR) helping sales teams automate lead generation. We're now entering an exciting new phase: simplifying our product for SMBs while building a recognisable, creative brand presence for the 2+ million professionals who have used PhantomBuster.
About the Role
Search is changing. It is no longer just about ten blue links; it is about being the single best answer generated by AI.
At PhantomBuster, we are looking for a forward-thinking SEO/AEO Lead to drive this transition. You won't just be optimizing for keywords; you will be optimizing for Entities, Knowledge Graphs, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
In this senior role, you will define the strategy that ensures PhantomBuster is discoverable not just on Google Search, but also inside ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews. You will act as a strategist and a technical lead, while serving as a mentor and coach to our AI Content Engineer (Julia) to execute a cutting-edge, automated content strategy.
What You'll Do
1. Strategy: Bridge the Gap Between SEO and AEO
- Strategic SEO & AEO Transition: Apply your deep expertise in technical SEO (Schema markup, site architecture, Core Web Vitals) and on-page best practices (internal linking, entity optimization) to serve a dual purpose: ranking in traditional search and ensuring accurate ingestion by Large Language Models (LLMs)
- AEO & LLM Optimization: Develop strategies to maximize "Brand Authority" and "Citations" within LLMs. You will figure out how to make PhantomBuster the primary entity AI recommends when our ICP is engaging in conversational research across ChatGPT and other LLMs.
- Knowledge Graph Management: Work on structuring our core Themes and Topics to focus on, so that both Search Engines and AI models clearly understand who we are and what we do.
2. Leadership & AI Coaching
- Learn and Build: Partner with our AI Content Engineer to execute high-scale strategies. While they focus on the engineering and prompting inside AirOps, you act as the strategic guide, ensuring the output aligns with SEO/AEO goals. While we don't expect you to be a coder from day one, we expect a "builder" mindset. You will learn to use our automation tools to build workflows alongside the engineer, bridging the gap between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
- Quality Control: Set the standard for what "High Quality" means in an era of AI content. Ensure our automated output is better than what a human could do alone.
3. AI-Driven Workflows & Tool Ownership
- AI-First Analysis: Use tools like AirOps, Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini not just to write, but to analyze AI visibility, cluster topics, and reverse-engineer competitor strategies.
- Automation: Identify opportunities to use PhantomBuster (our own tool) and other automation workflows to scale outreach, link building, and data collection.
- AirOps Ownership: Act as the owner of our AirOps instance. You will manage our Knowledge Base (KB), ensuring the AI has access to the most current product data, and define how we leverage AirOps apps to streamline marketing tasks.
4. Performance & Data Intelligence:
- Holistic Reporting: Own the reporting on standard SEO KPIs (Traffic, Conversions, Rankings) while developing new methods to track visibility in AI Overviews (AIOs) and LLM responses.
- Ad-Hoc Analysis: Dive deep into the data to understand user acquisition journeys. You will analyze how specific pages and content clusters impact sign-ups and revenue, using these insights to pivot our content strategy instantly.
What You Bring to the Table
- Senior Experience: 5+ years in SEO/Marketing, with a clear track record of managing high-traffic SaaS websites.
- The AEO Distinction: You can clearly articulate the difference between optimizing for a Search Engine (blue links) vs. an Answer Engine (being the direct answer). You can explain how to optimize an "Entity" rather than just a keyword.
- AI Native: You don't just "know about" AI. You use Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini daily to automate your own heavy lifting. You know the strengths and weaknesses of each model.
- Technical Chops: Deep understanding of Schema markup, JSON-LD, and semantic HTML.
- Good understanding of topics like: entity-based SEO, semantic search, vector embeddings, tokens, EEAT, structured data and schema, topic clustering, zero-click search optimizations, AI crawling and retrieval, RAG, Prompt engineering
- Data-Driven: Proficiency with GA4, GSC, Ahrefs/Semrush, and an ability to interpret data to pivot strategy quickly.
Nice to Have
- Automation Experience: Experience with Zapier, Make (Integromat), or Python scripting.
- AI Engineering Context: You have tinkered with the OpenAI API, MCP servers, AirOps workflows, have built AI Agents, or are familiar with vibe coding
- Programmatic SEO: Experience building large-scale, template-based pages based on data sets.
Why You'll Love This Job
- Future-Proof Your Career: You won't be doing 2015-era SEO. You will be pioneering how SaaS companies market themselves in the age of AI.
- Mentorship & Impact: You will have a direct hand in shaping the skills of our AI Content Engineer and the broader marketing team.
- Tool Access: We provide access to the best AI and automation tools on the market, including a significant amount of AirOps credits.
- Remote-First: Flexible working environment.
Why We'll Pick You:
- You are a veteran SEO who isn't afraid of the changes AI is bringing; you are excited by them.
- You are a teacher at heart. You enjoy mentoring others and translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies.
- You are a builder too. You don't just want to write a strategy document; you want to work inside the tools to see it come to life.
Recruitment Process:
- Screening Video Call with our Talent Partner, Jakub (45 minutes).
- Job Fit Interview with two Marketing Team Members (60 minutes).
- Take-home Use Case Exercise followed by a Debriefing Interview (60 minutes).
- Culture Fit Interview with two Colleagues from other departments (60 minutes).
AI Guidelines
At PhantomBuster, we use AI tools daily to build things faster. As the use of AI in recruitment might have multiple implications, we want to be transparent about how we might use it and how we expect you to use it during our recruitment processes.
How we use AI:
- Draft and refine job descriptions and case studies,
- Draft emails during the process,
- Find interview timeslots,
- Summarize interview notes,
How we don't use AI:
- Assess your CV or profile,
- Evaluate interview performance,
- Conduct interviews,
- Grade technical tasks or case studies.
You interact with humans. Period.
We invite you to use AI throughout the recruitment process. However, we want to meet YOU, not machine-generated responses. Your unique perspective matters so much more than perfect AI answers.
Feel free to use AI to:
- Research our company, team, or product,
- Refine your CV, portfolio, or LinkedIn profile,
- Prepare for interviews and brainstorm potential questions,
- Polish your case study or presentation,
- Draft emails to us,
Let us know throughout the process how you used AI - we are curious to learn.
Don't use AI to:
- Search for answers during interviews (unless we ask),
- Create documents (CV, portfolio, presentation) from scratch without your input,
- Build case studies or technical tests without your personal touch.
