What We Look For in a Culture Fit Interview at PhantomBuster
The culture fit interview isn't a test with a "right" answer key. It's a two-way conversation designed to understand whether your way of working and what you value naturally aligns with how we work at PhantomBuster, and whether we'd genuinely enjoy building the company together.
We're not looking for your "interview version". We're looking for you. And this works both ways: this is also your moment to discover our mindset, picture yourself working alongside us day to day, and figure out for yourself whether this is somewhere you'd genuinely want to be. It's completely fine if, by the end, the answer is no — that's a good outcome too, for both of us.
Why this interview exists
Skills can be taught. Shared values are much harder to build after the fact. This interview gives us a space to explore how you think, what drives you, and how you show up with a team, a manager, and a challenge, beyond what a resume or technical exercise can tell us.
It also gives you that same space in reverse: a real look at how we think, decide, and work together, so you can picture yourself in it rather than guess.
It's intentionally run as a conversation, not an interrogation. You can take your time to think, interviewers keep an open mind, and nobody is disqualified on a gut feeling alone. We're actively building a diverse team, so if you're more reserved, more direct, or simply different from us in style, that isn't a red flag, it's expected and welcome.
Company values
💪 Just Own It
At PhantomBuster, we take pride and ownership of our work and outcomes:
- We share what works, nurture creativity in ourselves and our teammates, and use AI to move fast.
- We commit to clear goals, measure our progress, and finish what we start.
💡 Come With a Solution
We're problem-solvers who approach challenges with optimism and action:
- We see every obstacle as an opportunity to innovate and raise our ambitions.
- We believe in our mission and trust in our collective power to achieve ambitious goals.
🚀 Go, Mike, Go!
We're obsessed with our users' success, and "Mike" represents every sales professional we serve:
- Every feature passes the Mike test: Does it help him close deals, or just add noise to his day?
- Whatever we're working on, Mike is at the heart of what we do.
What we're really listening for
For each value, we're not checking boxes, we're listening for real moments: a project you saw through end to end, a time you turned a setback into a better idea, a decision you made because it was right for the user rather than easier for you. One genuine story usually tells us more than five rehearsed answers, so interviewers ask just enough follow-up questions to get there, rather than working through a checklist.
We also look beyond the three values above, at how you work with the people around you:
- Fit with a manager — how directly you raise issues, what you need from a manager to do your best work, and what you've learned from managers you've had in the past.
- Fit with the team — how you react to an unexpected idea from a colleague, whether you show up to help when someone's stuck, and how comfortable you are asking for help yourself.
How we run it
- The interview is usually held by two interviewers from outside your future team, so the read on values stays independent from the read on skills.
- We come in without having read other interviewers' notes or reviews, so first impressions stay our own.
- We treat it as a back-and-forth, not a quiz: you can pause, think, and answer in your own words.
- We keep an objective mindset throughout. Your values and your stories matter far more than whether you happened to make us laugh or match our own communication style.
In short, we're not trying to catch you out, we're trying to get to know you. The goal is a conversation honest enough that, by the end, both sides know whether this is a good fit.
